Aves: Estado de Minas de Gerais
The state of Minas Gerais has a privileged geographic situation. Located in the Brazilian Southeast, it borders six other states of the Federation and is the foruth largest in the country, with an area of approximately 227,800 square miles. It is also the second most populous. There are currently around 780 bird species in Minas Gerais. This corresponds to a little over 40% of all recorded species in Brazil, giving us a clear notion of the state's importance in the national context.
