As Peter Harrison has devoted much of his adult life to supporting habitat restoration programs, he decided that a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Conservation Edition will be dedicated to seabird protection.

In close collaboration with the BirdLife International Partner Burung Indonesia, and the Indonesian birding community, the second edition of the important Field Guide Birds of the Indonesian Archipelago, Greater Sundas and Wallacea was translated to the language of Bahasa Indonesia by over 30 volunteer translators, edited by two Indonesian birding experts and made available directly in Indonesia by Burung Indonesia. The goal of the project is to increase awareness of the Indonesian avifauna and its conservation within the academic, governmental and rural communities—over 500 fully funded copies of which have been distributed through the country.
